Bright Purple Spanish Neodymium Ring - Changes color!
Bright Purple Spanish Neodymium Ring - Changes color!
Neodymium sea glass is another one of my favorites! This magical glass changes color depending on the light source. Pieces from a beach known for its art glass in Southern Spain produce the most vibrant purple pieces - almost an electric lilac! Then, like magic, they change color to a rich slate blue when under fluorescent (think an office) lights. Not only is this sea glass extremely rare, but it is often only found in very small bits. I am so pleased to have a few wonderful specimens to set. Check the pics for the amazing color change (no filters needed!)
This fabulous ring is part of 4 great Spanish “neo” pieces I recently set. This beauty is approximately 18 cm by 13 cm and a size 7 1/2 . It can be enlarged to an 8 1/2 upon request. Please leave a comment during the checkout process if you would like this ring enlarged and allow a few extra days for shipping. Check the pictures for another ing, a darling necklace, and a fabulous cuff!
A little about neodymium or Alexandrite glass from the folks at 20th Century Glass: Neodymium glass (also known as Alexandrite glass), changes colour according to different lighting conditions. The glass appears lilac (or sometimes pink) in natural sunlight or yellow artificial light, and smoky blue in fluorescent/white light. This is due to the presence of Neodymium oxide (Nd²O³) in the glass. Glassware containing Neodymium was produced in several countries, including Scandinavia, Italy, and the Czech Republic. The shades of lilac, pink and blue can vary greatly depending on the glass mixture. (https://20thcenturyglass.com/glass_encyclopedia/alexandrite_glass/neodymium_glass.htm)
This piece is handcrafted by me in my metalsmithing studio on Hawai’i Island. I take meticulous care to bring you the best in rare and elevated sea glass jewelry. This piece is set in fine (pure) silver and solid sterling silver.
Each piece of Sea and Sky Studio jewelry is made using genuine surf-tumbled sea glass and is created using solid gold and silver by me, by hand, in my studio. Each piece is a true labor of love. I have done my best to carefully photograph each piece to show its true color, but please allow for some shift as sea glass reflects what is around it as well as color shifts due to monitor differences. Thank you for considering my work for your collection!
